San Pedro

San Pedro, CA, is a historic waterfront community in Los Angeles known for its coastal charm, scenic ocean views, and strong sense of community.

Welcome to San Pedro

San Pedro is my hometown, and is the place where the energy of the port meets the charm of a tight-knit coastal community. Living here means being surrounded by one of the busiest ports in the world, the Port of Los Angeles. It's a fascinating backdrop—watching massive container ships glide through the harbor never gets old. Our waterfront is full of life, with spots like the USS Iowa Battleship Museum and the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium offering something for everyone. Growing up, I loved walking around Ports O’ Call Village, and now I’m excited to see the changes as it transforms into a vibrant new destination. San Pedro’s history, shaped by fishing and shipping, is something locals take pride in, and the influence of Italian, Croatian, and Mexican families is woven into everything, from our festivals to our food.

What I love most about San Pedro, though, is its balance between the industrial and the natural. Point Fermin Park is one of my wife’s favorite places to go for a walk, with its sweeping ocean views and the historic lighthouse. The Korean Bell of Friendship, with its intricate carvings, is another local gem, especially at sunset. Art is a big part of life here, too, with the Warner Grand Theatre hosting everything from movies to live performances, and the First Thursday art walks showcasing local talent. Whether it’s hiking along the Palos Verdes trails, spending a lazy afternoon at Cabrillo Beach, or grabbing fresh seafood from a local spot, San Pedro always feels like home—a mix of hardworking energy, creative spirit, and coastal serenity.

Living in San Pedro means embracing a laid-back, coastal lifestyle with plenty of activities to keep things interesting. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are trails to explore on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, offering stunning cliffside views and ocean breezes. And if you’re into history, spots like the USS Iowa and Point Fermin Lighthouse give you a sense of San Pedro’s maritime roots. There’s always something happening, from cultural festivals to the First Thursday activities in downtown, where local artists showcase their work and the streets come alive with music and food trucks.

When it comes to dining and entertainment, San Pedro doesn’t disappoint. We’ve got a mix of old-school charm and trendy spots that make eating out a treat. Think family-owned Italian restaurants serving up the best lasagna like J. Trani’s, delicious omelets paired with mouthwatering biscuits and gravy like the Pacific Diner, and cozy coffee shops like Siren’s, perfect for lazy afternoons. If you’re craving something sweet, the old-fashioned bakeries like Joseph’s Bakery never fail to deliver. Life in San Pedro is a blend of simplicity and excitement, with something for everyone to love.
